•    While for getting sim cards, writing entrance examinations, opening bank accounts etc., Aadhaar is just voluntary.

2)    A) In the famous Nagraj case in 2006 on quotas in promotions for government employees who belong to SC/ST, The supreme court stated that the state governments have to collect a quantifiable data showing backwardness of the class and inadequacy of representation of that class in public employment in case of promotions .
•    In the most recent judgment , the supreme court had done away with this practice and left the choice of quota on promotions to the discretion of state governments.
